Welcome to Magic Moments for Autistic Kids

Founded in 2002, we are a registered charity set up to help kids on the autistic spectrum and their families. We raise funds so we can turn their dreams into reality, and give them the help and support they need, as well as give help and support to their families. Winners of the prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2009, we are located on Market Hill, Scunthorpe. Why not come and visit our wonderful café for a bite to eat or peruse our well stocked charity shop? Your support would be greatly appreciated.

What is Autism?

What is Autism?

Autism is among the most tragic of developmental disorders, with a range of neurological features typically affecting children between the ages of 18 to 30 months. A child with severe Autism is trapped in a mental world of his/her own, which we can only imagine, often being unable to communicate or react in conventional ways. Disability from the disorder can vary between extremes, ranging from those requiring constant supervision and assistance, to those who are able to attend mainstream school, gain employment and lead relatively independent lives.

What is Magic Moments for Autistic Kids?

Founded in 2002 by Chairperson Pat Ebbs, we are a registered charity set up to help kids on the autistic spectrum. We raise funds so we can turn their dreams into reality, and give them the help and support they need, as well as give help and support to their families. With the money raised by our fantastic members and generous supporters, we strive to provide “Magic Moments“ for the children, whilst also helping to improve their self esteem. Ultimately, our dream is to inject some much needed sunshine into the very limited world of an autistic child.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK to recognise exceptional service within their communities. It is an honour we take very seriously and would not have been possible without the hard work of a great many people. Thank you.
